OVERVIEW: Ocular ultrasound is a fast and simple technique that can be performed to help differentiate between various ophthalmologic emergencies. INDICATORS: · Eye pain, acute change in vision, eye trauma · Suspected elevation in intracranial pressure (ICP) · When overlying edematous or contused periorbital tissue prohibits direct visualization of the eye · Assessment of intraocular masses & measurement of tumor thickness for staging. · Differentiating between choroidal or retinal detachments. · Decreased vision/loss of vision · Suspected foreign body · Head injury
